College students nowadays are having a hard time writing essays as part of their study requirements. Some hire professional copywriters to do the work for them. A lot of people hated writing as how they hate reading paperbacks and books. Research shows that students hate writing because their attention were diverted into something else such as dating, gaming and sports. This factor shows how children sees writing as a boring task. To bring back the spirit of writing among our youth, this steps will help them engage again in writing preferably with essays.
Brainstorming is the first step in writing. This involves the gathering of ideas for a specific subject or topic. It doesn't require long statements but rather short phrases of bits and pieces of information related to the chosen topic. First, scribe down the main idea of your essay. This will be the "benchmark" of your essay. Next, write phrases or statements that will support your main idea. Then try to seek some disagreements in your main idea. This will somehow negate what you written already. Try to support that with few statements so that you can justify the both sides.
After writing all the information you needed, create your essay outline. This will serves as your guide to what you will write. It is essential because some writers tend to be excited and they never thought that they already lost the message they really want to imply. In creating your essay outline, you must remember these steps:
· Introduction – This is the gist of your main idea. Bear in mind that the information written here are the most important so when the readers read your essay, they will easily grasp what your essay is all about.
· First part of the body of your essay - In this part, you will write ideas and phrases that will support your main idea. It is commonly agrees on the point you raised in the main idea
· Middle part of the body of your essay – If the first part you will write the advantage or the ideas you agreed upon your main idea, this is where you will write the negative points in your main idea. This includes disagreement and disadvantage of the point/topic you raised in the main idea.
· Conclusion – Reorganizing your stated facts and ideas will help you conclude your essay. An effective conclusion somehow leave the deciding factor among your readers or standing up to what you believe is right and justifying that without being biased.
· Reread and recheck – You need to assure that all information that you written is correct. Check your spelling and grammar usage. Check your essay from title to the last part.
Writing your essay in a draft form also helps to ensure that what you've written is precise and right. Drafts help you to improve your writing skills. Try to read your draft aloud and ask yourself if you're satisfied with what you've done. Ask questions about your essay, is it really imparts your thoughts and ideas? Does it lack information or facts? Is it biased or one-sided?
Check the parts of your essay and try not to be contented on what you've written already. Remember that there's always room for improvement. If you find that your essay is lacking or not appropriate, think that even professional writers does their essays twice or thrice before they were satisfied.
The last part and definitely the best is sharing your work with your family, friends and even in your class. Take down on what they say about your essay. Their feedbacks will help you on what to do or not to do when you engage in essay writing again. Practice these steps more often and who knows, you might publish your work online or in print. Make essay writing a habit and you will go places.
