With rapid growth in self-publishing, the standard of graphic design and typesetting has diminished as authors rush to get their content out to the consumer using sub-standard software and techniques. This group aims to educate self-publishers with the best news, tips and techniques related to these areas.
Cover Design
Hi All,
My name is Kit Foster, and I'm a graphic designer (and novelist) from Edinburgh, Scotland. I'm currently trying to build by design business, which specialises in book cover design for self published authors. I provide a professional, personal, good quality and above all cheap service, and I would love it if you could take a couple of minutes to stop by my site and check out my work! www.kitfosterdesign.com
Even if you're not looking for a cover designer, any feedback or comments would be really helpful to me!
Thanks for looking!
Cheers,
Kit
Typography of a book (novel)
I have a novel of about 80, 556 words, that is 175 pages single-spaced in length and I want to create a typographic design that is standard for a fiction book (novel).
How can I do this without hassle and without having to pay exorbitant amount of money to do it?
Introducing Adobe Digital Publishing Magazine Workflow
Adobe have released a short 'introduction' (read 'promotional video') to the workflow of their Digital Magazine publishing platform. Certainly an eye-opener to the capabilities that will probably quickly become standard in e-magazines:
